- Clean the housing interior and install the new impeller, rotating the driveshaft in its normal direction.
- Apply a light coat of marine grease to the new gaskets and reassemble the pump housing.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned. Secure all bolts to the manufacturer's torque specs.
- Reconnect the battery and test the engine with a water supply, checking for a strong "telltale" stream.
