Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this oil seal will fit my engine?

The best way to confirm fitment is to check your engine's original part number. This seal replaces Suzuki part numbers 09282-15008 and 09282-15010, among others. You can also consult the compatible models list on this page and compare it with your engine's model and year.

What are the signs of a failing lower unit oil seal?

Common signs include milky or water-contaminated gear lube, visible oil leaking from the propeller shaft area, or a recurring loss of gear lube. Failure to replace a bad seal can lead to severe gearcase damage.

What is the difference between Suzuki part numbers 09282-15008 and 09282-15010?

The part number 09282-15010 is the latest OEM replacement for 09282-15008. They are functionally identical, and 09282-15010 is the current, active part supplied by the manufacturer. Our aftermarket seal is built to the specifications of these interchangeable parts.

How often should this oil seal be replaced?

Oil seals should be inspected during every routine lower unit service. It is recommended to replace them whenever the lower unit is disassembled for other maintenance, or immediately if signs of wear or leakage are present.

Can I install this oil seal myself?

While DIY installation is possible for those with mechanical experience and the right tools (like a seal puller and driver), we recommend professional installation to ensure it is seated correctly and to prevent damage to the housing or the new seal.

Is any special grease required for installation?

Yes, use a high-quality marine-grade grease on the outer edge of the seal to ease installation and ensure a proper seal. Do not use non-marine grease, as it may degrade prematurely in a water environment.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
