Installation Notes

Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover. Unclip or disconnect the shift linkage.
Loosen and remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection.
Carefully separate the lower unit from the outboard. Place it on a stable workbench.
Unscrew the bolts for the water pump housing and lift the housing off the driveshaft.
Note the rotational direction of the old impeller vanes before sliding it off the driveshaft.
Remove the old wear plate, gaskets, and impeller key. Clean all mating surfaces of debris and old gasket material.
Install the new lower gasket, wear plate, and impeller key.
Lightly lubricate the new impeller and housing interior with marine grease. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to bed the vanes correctly.
Install the new upper gasket and reinstall the water pump housing, tightening bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Re-attach the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are properly aligned.
Reconnect the shift linkage and battery terminals.
Start the engine using a flush attachment or in water to verify a steady stream from the cooling system's tell-tale outlet.
