Installation Notes

Disconnect Power: Disconnect the battery before beginning work.
Access Lower Unit: Drain gearcase oil, then unbolt and remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard's driveshaft housing.
Disassemble Pump: Remove the water pump housing bolts and lift the housing to expose the impeller and other components. Note the orientation of the old impeller vanes.
Clean & Inspect: Clean all surfaces and inspect the housing for wear, scoring, or cracks. Replace the housing if significant damage is found.
Install New Parts: Install the new gasket, plate, impeller key, and impeller. Lubricate the new impeller and inner housing with a marine-safe lubricant. Turn the driveshaft clockwise while pushing the housing down to correctly seat the impeller vanes.
Reassemble: Secure the pump housing with the original bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
Reinstall Lower Unit: Reattach the lower unit to the driveshaft housing and refill the gearcase with fresh oil.
Test Operation: Reconnect the battery. With the outboard in water, start the engine and verify a steady stream of water is exiting the "tell-tale" port.
