Installation Notes
- Position a suitable drain pan under the lower unit's gearcase drain plug.
- Using the correct wrench, carefully loosen and remove the lower drain plug screw.
- Allow the old gear oil to drain completely. Inspect the oil for any metal shavings or water contamination.
- Clean the drain plug and the sealing surface on the gearcase, removing any old gasket material.
- Remove the old gasket from the drain plug and install the new gasket.
- Reinstall the drain plug with the new gasket. Tighten it securely according to the manufacturer's torque specifications. Do not overtighten.
- Refill the gearcase with the recommended marine gear lubricant through the upper fill hole until it flows out of the lower plug opening.
- Reinstall the upper plug, then quickly reinstall the lower plug. Check for leaks around the plug after a few minutes.
