Installation Notes

Consult your owner's manual for model-specific instructions and safety warnings before you begin.
Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover. Disconnect the shift linkage.
Place the outboard in neutral and remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine.
Carefully lower and remove the gearcase. The driveshaft will disengage from the powerhead.
Locate the water pump housing on top of the gearcase. Remove the bolts and lift the housing off.
Remove the old impeller, gasket, and wear plate. Note the direction of the old impeller's blades.
Clean the housing and plate surfaces thoroughly. Install the new wear plate and gasket.
Slide the new impeller key into the driveshaft keyway. Align the new impeller's keyway and slide it down.
Install the new impeller by sliding it onto the driveshaft, rotating the shaft in the direction of engine rotation to seat the blades correctly within the housing.
Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring a proper seal. Tighten bolts to the specified torque.
Re-install the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly. Fasten the bolts.
Reconnect the shift linkage and battery. Test the engine cooling system using a flush attachment before open water use.
