Drain the gearcase oil from the lower unit.
Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase from the outboard's midsection.
Locate and unbolt the water pump housing cover.
Remove the old impeller, noting the direction its vanes are bent.

Install the new impeller by sliding it onto the driveshaft. Rotate the shaft clockwise while pushing down to correctly orient the vanes.
Reinstall the water pump housing and torque its bolts to manufacturer specifications.

Refill the lower unit with the specified gear oil.
