Installation Notes

Disconnect the negative battery cable and shift the outboard into neutral.
Undo the lower unit mounting bolts and gently slide the lower unit (gearcase) off the driveshaft housing.
Locate and unbolt the water pump housing cover to expose the old impeller.
Observe the rotational direction of the old impeller's vanes before pulling it off the driveshaft. Remove the old woodruff key.
Thoroughly clean all debris and old gasket material from the housing and wear plate surfaces.
Install the new gaskets, wear plate, and woodruff key.
Align the new impeller with the key and slide it onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft clockwise to bed the vanes correctly inside the housing cup.
Reinstall the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the torque specifications in your service manual.
Carefully guide the lower unit back into place, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly. Fasten the mounting bolts.
Reconnect the battery, supply cooling water to the engine, and run it briefly to check for a strong, steady stream from the tell-tale outlet.
