Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
Shift the outboard into neutral.
Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper casing.
Carefully lower the gearcase, disconnecting the shift shaft if necessary.
Unbolt and remove the water pump housing to access the impeller.
Remove the old impeller, plate, and gaskets. Note the direction of the old impeller's vanes.
Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
Install the new gaskets, plate, and impeller. The vanes should be oriented correctly based on engine rotation.
Reinstall the water pump housing and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
Reattach the lower unit to the engine, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft are correctly aligned.
Secure the lower unit bolts and test run the engine with a water supply, checking for proper water outflow.
