Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and spark plug leads for safety.
- Shift the outboard into neutral.
- Remove the lower unit (gearcase) by unbolting it from the engine assembly.
- Locate and unbolt the water pump housing.
- Carefully note the orientation of old parts before removing the old impeller, wear plate, and gasket.
- Clean all housing surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or debris.
- Install the new wear plate, gasket, impeller, and key from the kit. Lubricate the new impeller and inside of the housing lightly with grease.
- Reassemble the pump housing, ensuring the impeller vanes are correctly oriented (turn the driveshaft clockwise during installation). Torque bolts to factory specs.
- Reinstall the lower unit, making sure the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
- Once reassembled, start the engine in water and verify a strong, steady stream from the cooling system tell-tale outlet.
