Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover. Disconnect the shift linkage.
- Place the outboard in neutral. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the upper casing.
- Carefully lower and separate the gearcase from the drive shaft housing.
- Unbolt and remove the water pump housing to expose the impeller. Note the orientation of the old impeller vanes.
- Remove the old impeller, key, gaskets, and O-rings. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new impeller key and place the new impeller into the housing, rotating it in the direction of engine operation to bend the vanes correctly.
- Install the new gaskets, plates, and O-rings. Reassemble the water pump housing and tighten bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Lightly grease the driveshaft splines and reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the water tube and shift shaft align correctly.
- Secure the gearcase bolts, reconnect the shift linkage, and test the engine in the water, ensuring a steady stream of water from the tell-tale outlet.
