- Use a suitable filter wrench to unscrew and remove the old fuel filter.
- Wipe the filter mounting surface on the engine block clean.
- Lightly lubricate the gasket on the new filter with clean diesel fuel.
- Carefully fill the new filter with clean diesel fuel to aid in priming.
- Spin the new filter on by hand until the gasket makes contact with the mounting surface.
- Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 turn by hand or as specified by your engine manual. Do not overtighten.
- Open the fuel cock, prime the fuel system according to the manufacturer's procedure, and start the engine.
- Check for any leaks around the filter housing and connections.
