- Place an absorbent towel under the sea water pump to catch any drips.
- Loosen and remove the screws on the water pump cover plate.

- Clean the inside of the pump housing and the cover plate.
- Apply a light coat of water-resistant grease or dish soap to the inside of the pump housing and the new impeller.
- Install the new impeller, ensuring the vanes are bent in the same direction as the old one.
- Replace the cover plate with a new gasket and tighten the screws evenly.
- Open the raw water seacock.
- Start the engine and immediately check for proper water flow and for leaks around the pump cover.
