Installation Notes

  1. Disconnect the vessel's battery and any relevant power sources.
  2. Relieve tension from the serpentine belt and remove it from the crankshaft pulley.
  3. Remove the crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer. This may require a specialized puller tool.
  4. Carefully pry out the old sealing ring using a seal puller. Be cautious not to scratch or gouge the crankshaft or the housing surface.
  5. Thoroughly clean the seal housing and the crankshaft surface. Ensure no old seal material or debris remains.
  6. Lubricate the inner lip of the new sealing ring with clean engine oil.
  7. Using a suitable seal driver tool, carefully press the new sealing ring into the housing. Ensure it is seated evenly and flush with the housing face.
  8. Reinstall the crankshaft pulley and torque the retaining bolt(s) to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  9. Reinstall the serpentine belt and tension it correctly.
  10. Reconnect the battery.
  11. Start the engine and carefully inspect the new seal for any signs of oil leakage.
