Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this impeller fits my specific engine?
The best method is to match your existing part number to one listed in our Part Number Matrix. If you cannot find your part number, check the Engine & Model Compatibility table. If still unsure, measure your old impeller's diameter, width, and shaft type and compare it to our Technical Specs.
What are the signs of a failing impeller?
Common symptoms include engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a reduced flow of water from the exhaust outlet, and visible cracks or missing blades on the impeller itself during inspection.
How often should I replace my raw water pump impeller?
As a general rule, it's recommended to inspect your impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years or every 200-300 operating hours, whichever comes first. This can vary based on usage, water conditions (sandy/silty water causes faster wear), and whether you frequently run the pump dry.
My old impeller had a different number of blades. Can I still use this one?
Generally, you should use an impeller with the same blade count as the original. However, some part numbers are superseded by designs with a different blade count that provide similar or better flow characteristics. This 12-blade impeller is the current standard replacement for the listed part numbers, some of which may have originally used a 9-blade design.
What is 'spline drive'?
Spline drive refers to the mounting interface of the impeller. The center brass hub has a series of grooves (splines) that match corresponding ridges on the pump shaft. This design ensures a tight, non-slip fit, allowing the shaft to transfer rotational force to the impeller effectively.
Is it okay if the included gasket looks different from my original?
Yes. Aftermarket kits are designed to fit a wide range of pump models, and the included gasket is often a universal style that seals correctly across all listed applications, even if its shape differs slightly from the OEM version.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
