Installation Notes
- Before starting, shut off the engine and close the cooling water seacock.
- Loosen and remove the screws on the sea water pump cover plate.
- Gently pry off the cover. Note the direction the impeller blades are bent.
- Remove the old impeller using needle-nose pliers or an impeller puller tool.
- Clean any debris or old gasket material from the pump housing and cover.
- Install the new O-ring or gasket on the pump body.
- Apply a small amount of water-resistant grease or dish soap to the inside of the housing and the new impeller.
- Insert the new impeller, bending the blades in the same direction as the old one, by pushing in while turning the shaft.
- Reinstall the cover plate and tighten the screws evenly in a star pattern to ensure a good seal.
- Open the seacock, start the engine, and immediately check the pump for any leaks.
