Installation Notes
- Ensure the engine has completely cooled before starting. Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
- Locate the thermostat housing on the engine. Place a drain pan underneath and carefully drain a sufficient amount of coolant from the system.
- Remove the bolts or screws securing the thermostat housing cover. You may need to gently tap the cover to break the seal.
- Note the orientation of the old thermostat before removing it, along with the old gasket or O-ring.
- Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the housing and its cover, removing all old gasket material and corrosion.
- Install the new thermostat in the correct orientation. Place the new gasket and/or O-ring into position.
- Re-install the housing cover and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque in a crossing pattern.
- Refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant. Reconnect the battery, start the engine, and carefully check for leaks as it comes up to operating temperature.
