Installation Notes

  1. Disconnect the engine's battery cables to prevent accidental starts.
  2. Locate the old sacrificial anode on the transom bracket assembly.
  3. Remove the two mounting bolts securing the old anode and discard the anode.
  4. Thoroughly clean the mounting surface on the transom bracket. A wire brush can remove any corrosion or residue.
  5. Ensure the surface is free of paint, primer, or heavy oxidation for good electrical contact.
  6. Position the new anode and fasten it securely with the appropriate bolts. Do not overtighten.
  7. Reconnect the battery cables. Your installation is complete.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Why use an aluminum anode instead of a zinc one?

Aluminum anodes are more effective than zinc in brackish and saltwater. They have a greater electrical potential, allowing them to protect engine components more actively against galvanic corrosion. They also work well in freshwater, making them a versatile choice.

How can I tell if my anode needs replacement?

Inspect your anodes at least once a year or every 50-100 hours of use. You should replace this anode when it is approximately 50% eroded or heavily pitted. A crumbling or white, chalky appearance also indicates it's time for a change.

Will this anode fit a 115 HP Yamaha?

No, this particular anode is designed specifically for the 40 HP to 90 HP range of Yamaha outboards listed in the compatibility table. Using the wrong anode may result in improper fitment and inadequate protection.

Does this anode include mounting bolts?

No, this package includes the anode only. You will need to reuse your existing mounting hardware or purchase new bolts separately.

Where does this anode get installed?

This anode mounts directly onto the transom bracket of the outboard motor, which is the part that clamps or bolts to the boat's transom.

What happens if I don’t replace a worn-out anode?

Failing to replace a depleted anode will cause galvanic corrosion to attack other metal parts of your engine's lower unit, such as the propeller, gearcase, and bracket. This can lead to expensive and potentially catastrophic damage.

Is this an official Yamaha (OEM) part?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). It is built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Our parts are manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility and batch-inspected for consistency and quality.

How fast is shipping?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit is 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options will appear at checkout if available for your location.

What is the warranty and return policy?

This product is covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If you encounter any issues, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window, provided the item is unused and in its original condition. Please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify images and specifications against your original part before ordering. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement component, not an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) part.
  • Professional installation is recommended for safety and optimal performance.
