Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and ensure the engine is secure.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the drain and vent plugs to empty the gearcase oil.
3. Remove the mounting bolts to detach the lower unit (gearbox) from the outboard's upper section.
4. Disassemble the gearcase components as required to access the propeller shaft and bearing housing.
5. Carefully extract the old needle bearing using an appropriate bearing puller or press. Avoid damaging the housing.
6. Thoroughly clean the bearing seat and inspect it for any scoring or damage.
7. Using a bearing press or a correctly sized driver, gently and evenly press the new needle bearing into the housing until it is fully seated.
8. Reassemble the gearcase components in reverse order, ensuring all seals and gaskets are correctly installed.
9. Reinstall the lower unit onto the outboard, tightening bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Refill the gearcase with the recommended marine gear lubricant until it flows out of the upper vent hole, then reinstall both plugs.
11. Reconnect the battery and test the engine's operation in the water.
