Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I confirm this bearing fits my engine?

The best way to confirm fitment is to check your engine's original part number. If your old bearing is a 93332-00003-00, this aftermarket part will fit. You can also consult your service manual or cross-reference your model and year in our compatibility table.

What are signs of a failing gearcase bearing?

Common symptoms include a grinding or whining noise from the lower unit, excessive vibration, or metal shavings found in the gear oil during a change. A failing bearing can lead to significant gearcase damage if not addressed.

How often should this bearing be replaced?

There is no fixed replacement interval. This bearing should be inspected during any major lower unit service or if you notice signs of wear or failure. It is typically replaced as needed rather than on a schedule.

What is the difference between this and the OEM Yamaha part?

Functionally, there is no difference. Our aftermarket bearing is designed to meet or exceed OEM specifications for fit, material, and performance. It provides comparable durability at a more competitive price point.

Can I install this bearing myself?

Installation requires specialized tools like a bearing press and puller, along with mechanical experience working on outboard lower units. To prevent damage to the gearcase and ensure safety, we strongly recommend professional installation.

Is any special grease or lubrication needed during installation?

Yes, you should apply a light coat of high-quality marine grease to the new bearing and its seat during installation. After reassembly, the gearcase must be filled with the correct type and amount of marine gear lubricant as specified by your engine's manufacturer.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
