Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this wrist pin bearing fits my Yamaha outboard?

This bearing fits specific Yamaha 200-300 HP 6-cylinder, 76-degree V-block engines from 1990-2010. Please consult the "Engine & Model Compatibility" table and cross-reference your engine model and year to ensure a perfect match.

What are the signs of a failing wrist pin bearing?

Common symptoms include a distinct knocking or rattling sound from the engine, especially under load or at certain RPMs. You may also notice a loss of power or increased engine vibration. Accurate diagnosis requires engine inspection.

Is a special tool required for installation?

Yes, installation requires specialized tools to press the old pin out and the new pin in without damaging the piston or connecting rod. A hydraulic press with the correct jigs is recommended. This job is best performed by a qualified marine mechanic.

How often should wrist pin bearings be replaced?

Wrist pin bearings are typically replaced during a complete engine rebuild or overhaul. They do not have a standard service interval but should be inspected whenever the piston or connecting rod is serviced and replaced if any wear is detected.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
