Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and safely secure the engine before beginning work.
- Drain necessary engine fluids (e.g., oil, coolant) as per your service manual.
- Remove the cylinder head and other components to gain access to the piston assembly.
- Carefully remove the old piston pin clips, piston pin, and the worn piston.
- Thoroughly inspect the cylinder walls for any scoring, tapering, or out-of-round conditions. Hone if necessary to ensure proper ring seating.
- Install one new piston pin clip into the groove on one side of the new piston.
- Generously lubricate the new piston, rings, and wrist pin with fresh 2-stroke oil.
- Install the new piston assembly with the arrow (if present) pointing towards the exhaust side and insert the piston pin.
- Install the second piston pin clip to secure the assembly.
- Using a piston ring compressor, carefully guide the piston and rings into the cylinder bore.
- Reassemble the cylinder head and all other components, torquing all fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Refill all fluids, reconnect the battery, and follow the service manual's procedure for initial startup after a rebuild.
