Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and spark plug wire for safety.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain screw to empty the oil.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection and carefully lower it.
- Locate the water pump assembly on top of the gearcase and remove the bolts securing the old housing.
- Lift the old housing off, taking care not to lose the woodruff key for the impeller. Inspect the impeller and wear plate, replacing if necessary.
- Clean the mounting surfaces and install the new water pump housing, ensuring a proper seal. Tighten bolts to manufacturer-specified torque.
- Re-install the lower unit, refill the gearcase with fresh oil, and reconnect the battery/spark plug.
- Before regular use, test the engine with a water source to confirm the cooling system functions correctly.
