Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this kit fits my Yamaha outboard?
The surest way is to check your engine's model number and year against the compatibility chart. This kit fits a wide range of 60-90 HP 2-stroke models. If your model isn't listed, do not purchase.
What are the signs of a faulty water pump impeller?
Common symptoms include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or intermittent water stream from the "tell-tale" outlet, or a melted water pump housing. These indicate the impeller is no longer moving water effectively.
How often should I replace my water pump impeller?
As a preventative maintenance item, it is recommended to replace the impeller every 1 to 2 years, or every 100-200 hours of operation, especially if you frequently operate in sandy or silty water.
Is this kit suitable for saltwater use?
Yes, all components, including the neoprene impeller and stainless steel hardware, are designed to resist corrosion and degradation in both freshwater and saltwater environments.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9001 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
