Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cowling. Drain the gearcase oil into a suitable container.
2. Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase (lower unit) from the outboard's midsection, disconnecting the speedometer tube if present.
3. Locate and unbolt the water pump housing (typically four bolts). Slide the housing up and off the driveshaft.
4. Remove the old impeller, wear plate, gaskets, and woodruff key. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
5. Install the new woodruff key, gasket, and wear plate. Lightly grease the new impeller and slide it onto the driveshaft while turning it clockwise to seat the vanes.
6. Install the new housing, insert, gaskets, and O-rings. Apply marine-grade grease to the new bolts and tighten them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
7. Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned. Re-fill the gearcase with fresh oil.
8. Once assembled, start the engine in water and verify a steady stream of water from the "telltale" outlet.
