Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and shift the outboard into neutral.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) and carefully separate it from the upper housing.
- Locate the water pump housing on top of the lower unit and remove its mounting bolts.
- Slide the housing up and off the driveshaft, exposing the impeller. Note the orientation of the old impeller vanes.
- Remove the old impeller, Woodruff key, gaskets, and wear plates. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly.
- Install the new Woodruff key, gasket, and wear plate from the kit.
- Apply a lubricant like silicone grease, glycerin, or dish soap to the inside of the new pump housing and onto the new impeller.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to bed the vanes correctly.
- Install the new housing, seals, and O-rings provided in the kit, and tighten bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned. Securely tighten all bolts.
