Installation Notes

  1. Ensure the engine is completely cool before starting work. Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
  2. Locate the thermostat housing on the engine. Refer to your service manual if needed.
  3. Place a drain pan under the housing and slowly loosen the cover bolts to drain any residual coolant.
  4. Remove the old thermostat and discard it. Carefully clean any old gasket material from the housing and cover surfaces.
  5. Insert the new thermostat, making sure it is correctly oriented according to your engine's service manual.
  6. Install a new gasket (not included) on the clean surface of the housing.
  7. Reinstall the housing cover and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque in a crisscross pattern.
  8. Refill the cooling system with the manufacturer-recommended coolant, then reconnect the battery cable.
  9. Start the engine, let it idle, and carefully check for any leaks around the thermostat housing as it warms up.
