Installation Notes

- Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cowling.
- Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the drain screw to empty the gearcase oil.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection and carefully lower it.
- Locate the water pump housing on top of the gearcase and remove its mounting bolts.
- Slide the housing up to expose the old impeller. Note the orientation of the blades.
- Remove the old impeller, clean the housing and wear plate, and slide the new impeller on, ensuring the woodruff key is aligned.
- Apply a light coat of marine grease or soap to the inside of the housing and reinstall it, ensuring the impeller blades are oriented correctly (in the direction of rotation).
- Reinstall the lower unit, refill the gearcase oil with a new gasket, and reattach all components.
- Once assembled, start the engine using a water supply (flushing muffs) and verify a strong, steady stream from the "telltale" outlet.
