Troubleshooting & FAQ

How can I verify this alternator fits my specific engine model?

The most reliable method is to match your existing alternator's part number to the numbers listed in our Part Number Matrix. If you cannot find a part number, carefully check your engine model and year against our compatibility table. When in doubt, compare our product photos to your current part.

What are common signs of a failing alternator?

Symptoms include dimming lights, a "Check Battery" or "ALT" warning light on your dashboard, a weak or dead battery, and a whining or grinding noise coming from the engine bay. You can also test the voltage at the battery with the engine running; it should typically be between 13.5 and 14.5 volts.

Is this a direct bolt-on replacement?

Yes, this unit is engineered to be a direct OEM-style replacement. It uses the same mounting points (dual 2" feet) and electrical connections as the original Volvo Penta parts it replaces, requiring no modification for installation.

What is the output rating of this alternator?

This alternator has a rated output of 70 amps at 12 volts, suitable for maintaining battery charge and powering onboard electronics for the specified engine applications.

How often should a marine alternator be replaced?

There is no fixed replacement interval for a marine alternator. Replacement is typically done when the unit fails or shows signs of imminent failure. Longevity depends on usage hours, operating conditions (especially exposure to salt and moisture), and electrical load.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.

Shipping speed & cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.

Warranty & returns?

Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify images/specifications vs your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement, not an OEM component.
  • Professional installation is recommended for safety and performance.
