Installation Notes
- Ensure the engine is off and the propeller is stopped. Disconnect the battery for safety.
- Position the two halves of the guard around the lower unit, with the main body enclosing the propeller.
- Align the top mounting holes with the cavitation plate. Mark the drill locations.
- Using the included drill bit, carefully drill through the marked locations on the cavitation plate.
- Secure the upper part of the guard to the cavitation plate using the provided short bolts, nuts, and washers.
- Align the lower mounting holes with the skeg. Mark and drill the skeg.
- Fasten the lower part of the guard to the skeg using the long bolts, nuts, and washers.
- Tighten all hardware evenly. Do not overtighten, as this could damage the guard or the engine lower unit.
- Check for proper clearance between the propeller and the inside of the guard. Rotate the propeller by hand to ensure it does not make contact.

This guard is designed for outboard motors from 70 to 120 HP with a propeller diameter up to 13.5 inches. It is crucial to also check for exclusions, as it will not fit Mercury Big Foot, or any Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, or Tohatsu High Thrust models, which require a larger 16" guard.
Is drilling into my engine's lower unit required for installation?
Yes, installation requires drilling mounting holes through the cavitation plate and the lower skeg. All necessary mounting hardware, including a drill bit, is included in the package.
