  2. Carefully remove the engine cowling and air silencer to access the carburetor.
  3. Place a rag beneath the carburetor to catch any spilled fuel.
  4. Remove the carburetor float chamber (bowl) by unscrewing the retaining bolts.
  5. Gently pull out the float pivot pin to release the old float and attached needle valve.
  6. Install the new float and needle, securing them with the original pivot pin. Ensure it moves freely.

  8. Reconnect the fuel line, prime the system, and check for leaks before starting the engine.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this float fits my engine?

The best way to confirm is by matching your old part's number to one of the cross-reference numbers listed in our Part Number Matrix. You can also check your engine model and year against our compatibility table. If you're still unsure, please contact us with your engine's model and serial number.

What are the signs of a failing carburetor float?

Common symptoms include the engine flooding with fuel, fuel leaking from the carburetor overflow, rough idling, stalling, or a no-start condition. A saturated or cracked float will fail to shut off the fuel supply, leading to these issues.

Can a bad float cause the engine to run rich or lean?

Typically, a failing float that has become saturated or stuck will cause a rich running condition by allowing too much fuel into the carburetor bowl. This can lead to black smoke, poor fuel economy, and fouled spark plugs.

How often should a carburetor float be replaced?

There is no fixed replacement interval. Floats are typically replaced only when they fail. It's good practice to inspect the float during any major carburetor service or rebuild.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
