  3. Carefully disconnect the throttle linkage and any other connections from the carburetor.
  4. Remove the mounting bolts and take the carburetor off the engine.
  5. Disassemble the carburetor on a clean workbench, taking note of the location of each part. It is helpful to take photos as you go.
  6. Clean all metal components with a dedicated carburetor cleaner. Do not use cleaner on non-metal parts.
  7. Carefully replace the old gaskets, seals, needle valve, and other components with the new parts from the kit.
  8. Reassemble the carburetor, ensuring the float is set to the correct height as per your engine's service manual.
  9. Re-install the carburetor onto the engine, reconnecting linkages and fuel lines.
  10. Start the engine and adjust the air/fuel mixture and idle screws as needed for smooth operation.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this kit fits my engine?

First, check your engine's model, horsepower, and year against the detailed list in the "Engine & Model Compatibility" table. For 100% certainty, find the part number on your existing carburetor or in your service manual and confirm it matches a number in our "Part Number Matrix."

What is the difference between the Yamaha part numbers this replaces (e.g., 689-W0093-02-00 vs -01-00)?

The different suffixes (-02-00, -01-00, -00-00) typically indicate manufacturing revisions or updates from Yamaha over time. This aftermarket kit is designed to be a universal replacement for all of these superseded versions, containing all necessary parts for the listed engine models.

My engine is a 20 HP Yamaha, is this compatible?

Yes, aftermarket data indicates this kit is also compatible with select Yamaha 20C/CM models from 1992–2002. Please verify your specific model is listed in the compatibility table before ordering.

Why are there different part numbers listed for the screws and needle valve?

Different OEM sources and diagrams sometimes list slightly different but functionally interchangeable part numbers for minor hardware. Our kit provides components that match the primary OEM specification and are guaranteed to fit the intended carburetor applications.

What are common signs my carburetor needs a rebuild?

Symptoms include difficulty starting, rough or erratic idling, stalling at low speeds, engine hesitation upon acceleration, black smoke from the exhaust, or visible fuel leakage from the carburetor body.

Does this kit include everything I need?

This kit includes all standard components—gaskets, seals, float, needle valve, and screws—for a complete overhaul of a single carburetor as detailed in the "What’s in the Box" section. Refer to your service manual to confirm if any model-specific specialty tools are required.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.

Shipping speed & cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.

Warranty & returns?

Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify images/specifications vs your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
