Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this gasket fits my exact engine model?

This gasket is designed for Yamaha 200, 225, and 250 horsepower V6 4-Stroke outboards made from 2002 through 2021. Always cross-reference your engine's part number with the ones listed in our Part Number Matrix to ensure a perfect match.

Is this gasket for the port (left) or starboard (right) side?

This particular part is for the port side only. The starboard side requires a different gasket (such as Quicksilver 8M6010318), which must be purchased separately.

What are the common signs of a failed cylinder head gasket?

Symptoms of a blown head gasket include engine overheating, a noticeable loss of power, white smoke from the exhaust (burning coolant), or a milky appearance in the engine oil, which indicates coolant and oil are mixing.

Should I use sealant when installing this gasket?

Most modern composite gaskets like this one are designed to be installed dry. Applying sealants can interfere with the seal. Always consult your official service manual for your specific engine model for the most accurate procedure.

How can I tell the difference between the port and starboard gasket?

The gaskets are mirror images of each other and are not interchangeable. The shape and bolt hole pattern are unique to each side. Compare the new gasket to your old one to confirm correct placement before installation.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.

Shipping speed & cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.

Warranty & returns?

Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify images/specifications vs your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement, not an OEM component.
