Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery terminals to prevent electrical shorts.
- Mark the position of the distributor base and rotor relative to the engine block for accurate reinstallation.
- Disconnect the distributor cap, wiring harness, and any vacuum lines.
- Remove the distributor hold-down clamp and bolt, then carefully lift the distributor out of the engine.
- Remove the old gasket and clean both the intake manifold and distributor mounting surfaces thoroughly.
- Place the new gasket onto the intake manifold, aligning it with the mounting holes.
- Reinsert the distributor, aligning the rotor and base with your previous marks. Ensure the oil pump driveshaft engages correctly.
- Secure the distributor with the hold-down clamp and bolt, but do not fully tighten yet.
- Reconnect all wiring and the distributor cap. Check and adjust ignition timing with a timing light before fully tightening the hold-down bolt.
