- Ensure the engine is off, cool, and disconnected from the power source.
- Locate and access the exhaust baffle plate cover on your outboard motor.
- Carefully remove the bolts or fasteners securing the cover. Note their positions if they vary in length.
- Remove the old, worn-out gasket. Use a plastic scraper to carefully remove any remaining gasket material from the mating surfaces.
- Ensure both the engine block and cover surfaces are immaculately clean and dry.
- Align the new gasket correctly with the bolt holes. Do not use any sealant unless specified by the engine manufacturer.
- Re-install the cover and hand-tighten the bolts. Then, torque the bolts to the manufacturer-specified value in the correct sequence.
- After installation, check for any exhaust leaks around the cover upon starting the engine.
