- Install the new upper main bearing shells into the engine block and the lower shells into the bearing caps, making sure the locking tangs are correctly seated.
- Apply a generous amount of assembly lube to all bearing surfaces and crankshaft journals.
- Reinstall the main bearing caps in their original order and orientation.
- Torque the cap bolts to the manufacturer's specified sequence and values.
- Reinstall the oil pan with a new gasket and seals. Refill the engine with the correct grade and quantity of oil before starting.
