  5. Remove the old main bearing shells from the block and caps.
  6. Thoroughly clean the bearing saddles and crankshaft journals, ensuring they are free of oil and debris.
  7. Apply assembly lube to the new bearing shells.
  8. Install the new bearings into the block and caps, ensuring the locating tangs are correctly seated.
  9. Reinstall the main bearing caps in their original order and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.
  10. Reassemble the remaining components, refill with new engine oil, and check for leaks upon first start.
