Installation Notes

  1. Ensure the engine is off and fully cooled. Place an oil drain pan beneath the existing filter.
  2. Using an oil filter wrench, turn the old filter counter-clockwise to loosen and remove it.
  3. Wipe the filter mounting surface on the engine block clean with a lint-free rag.
  4. Apply a thin film of fresh, clean engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
  5. Carefully screw the new filter onto the threaded mount by hand until the gasket makes contact with the engine mounting surface.
  6. Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to one full turn by hand. Do not overtighten.
  7. Refill the engine with the correct grade and amount of oil, then run the engine for a few minutes to circulate oil and check for any leaks around the filter.
  8. Turn off the engine, wait a few minutes, re-check the oil level, and top off if necessary.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

How do I know if this filter fits my Yanmar engine?

This filter is designed for Yanmar 6LP and 6LPA series diesel engines (250-300 HP) made between 1997–2006. Always check your engine model and original part number (119770-90620) against our compatibility list and specifications before ordering.

What is the difference between this filter and the original Yanmar part?

This is a high-quality aftermarket part built to meet or exceed OEM specifications. It offers comparable performance and filtration to the genuine Yanmar part but at a more competitive price point.

How often should I replace my engine oil filter?

Replacement intervals depend on engine hours and operating conditions. Always follow the service schedule in your Yanmar engine's owner manual, which typically recommends replacement during every scheduled oil change.

What are the signs of a clogged or failing oil filter?

Common symptoms include a noticeable drop in oil pressure reading, a sputtering engine, or unusual metallic sounds from the engine bay. If you notice these signs, check your filter and oil level immediately.

Does this filter include the bypass and anti-return valves?

Yes, it is fully equipped with both an anti-return valve to prevent oil drain-back when the engine is off and a bypass valve set to a 1 bar opening pressure to ensure continuous oil flow if the filter becomes clogged.

OEM vs. Aftermarket?

This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.

Shipping speed & cost?

We ship worldwide quickly—typical transit 5–15 days. Standard shipping is free; expedited options appear at checkout where available.

Warranty & returns?

Covered by a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If issues arise, contact support with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard window (unused & in original condition). See our policy page or reach out for instructions.

Safety & Important Info

  • Verify images/specifications vs your original part. If anything differs—even if your model appears compatible—do not purchase.
  • This is an aftermarket replacement, not an OEM component.
