- Refill the lower unit with the correct type and amount of new gear oil. Check for leaks before operation.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Where is this oil seal installed?
This oil seal is specifically for the propeller shaft, located within the lower unit (gearcase) of the outboard motor. Its job is to keep gear oil in and water out.
What are the signs of a failed propeller shaft seal?
Common signs include visible gear oil leaking from around the propeller area, or discovering water in your gear oil (it will look milky or creamy) during a routine check. You might also notice fishing line tangled behind the prop, which can damage the seal.
Will this fit my Suzuki DF30A?
Yes, this seal is confirmed to fit the Suzuki DF30A and DF25A models from 2013 to the present, in addition to the other listed 20–50 HP models.
How often should this seal be replaced?
It is recommended to inspect the oil seals whenever you service the lower unit or change the gear oil (typically annually). Replace the seal immediately if you see any signs of wear, damage, cracking, or leakage.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement (not OEM). Built to OEM-level specifications with comparable materials. Manufactured in an ISO 9002 facility, batch-inspected for consistency.
