Installation Notes

1. Disconnect the battery and ensure the engine is secure.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase oil drain and vent screws to empty the oil.
3. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) and carefully detach it from the engine's midsection to expose the drive shaft.
4. Locate the drive shaft oil seal at the top of the lower unit.
5. Carefully pry out the old oil seal using a seal puller or flat-head screwdriver, taking care not to scratch the housing.
6. Thoroughly clean the seal housing area to remove any old sealant, corrosion, or debris.
7. Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inner and outer surfaces of the new oil seal.
8. Gently press the new seal into place using a socket or seal driver of the correct diameter, ensuring it is seated evenly and fully.
9. Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the drive shaft splines align correctly. Torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification.
10. Refill the gearcase with the correct type and amount of lower unit lubricant. Reinstall and tighten the vent and drain screws.
11. Reconnect the battery and test the engine according to standard procedures.
