Ensure the engine is off, in neutral, and disconnected from the power source.
Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the drain/fill screws to empty the gear lube.
Remove the propeller assembly and the bolts securing the lower unit to the engine.
Carefully lower and remove the gear case assembly.
Locate and gently pry out the old oil seal, taking care not to scratch the housing. Note its orientation.
Thoroughly clean the seal seating area of any old sealant or debris.
