Installation Notes

Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard by undoing the mounting bolts.
Unscrew the bolts on the water pump housing and lift the housing off the driveshaft.
Carefully note the orientation of the old impeller blades before removing it and its key.
Clean any debris and gasket residue from the housing and wear plate. Inspect for scoring or warping.
Install the new key into the slot on the driveshaft.
Slide the new impeller down the shaft while turning the driveshaft clockwise to seat the blades correctly inside the housing.
Apply a small amount of marine grease or soap to the inside of the housing to ease installation.
Re-install the water pump housing and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification.
Re-attach the lower unit to the engine, ensuring the shift shaft and driveshaft align correctly.
Reconnect the battery and test the engine using a flush-muzzle or in the water, confirming a strong water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
