Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery and fuel lines for safety.
- Unbolt and carefully lower the gearcase (lower unit) from the outboard motor.
- Locate and remove the bolts securing the water pump housing.
- Slide the old housing, impeller, wear plate, and gaskets off the driveshaft. Note their orientation.
- Thoroughly clean the driveshaft and mating surfaces of any old gasket material or debris.
- Install the new gasket and lower panel (wear plate) onto the gearcase.
- Slide the new Woodruff key into its slot on the driveshaft.
- Install the new impeller, turning the driveshaft clockwise to bend the vanes in the correct direction.
- Lightly lubricate the inside of the new pump case and slide it down over the impeller.
- Secure the housing with its bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly aligned.
- Reconnect the battery and fuel lines. Start the engine and verify a steady water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
